The Red Heart of Australia: From Adelaide to Alice Spring

Adelaide is a starting point from the journey to the outback. It’s a little sweet city, that worth to spend at least one day to visit the fruits and vegetables market, Chinatown, the botanic garden with multicolored birds taking bath in water fountain, listen at thestreet musical artist.

On the way to the north, you can stop by Flinder Ranger, Lake Eyers, William Creek, Coober Peddy, Lyndhurst, Farina, The Mutation Park, Talc Alf Gallery, Uluru, King Canyon, Kata Tjuta and Alice Spring.

Flinder Ranges

On your way to the outback, spend one night at the hostel in Angorichina Village. This is an old hospital, build initially to host soldiers coming back from the war. During one of this numerous stories, our crazy lovely tour guide Steve, explained us that this place is haunted. Look at the picture in the living room… You can spend sometimes to go hiking around the area in the Blinman Pools, see some waterfalls and meet some local wild animals.

A little bit further, in Lyndhurst, stop at Talc Alf art gallery. This Dutch man has his proper vision of the world, he will explain you about the origin of the words from their shapes.
On the way to north, there is other recommended stop: Mutations Park, Farina, Lake Eyers, William Creek…

Coober Peddy, the city of Opal mine, where a lot of houses, hotel, bars have been built in the shafts. Spend overnight there and get a beer underground. If you have a chance, you could visit an underground house with an underground swimming pool.

Mt Conner, Ayers Rocks, Uluru, Kata Tjuta National Park, Kings Canyon

They are the main spots to visit around Alice Spring. Worth to allow one day visiting each site for few hours hiking, start early in the morning when the heat is not too strong yet. Don’t forget extra water!
